The National Political Publishing House published a 194-page book entitled “Developmental state with political parties and social organizations (Case studies in some East Asian countries and suggestions for Vietnam) written by Dau Cong Hiep, M.A., and Mai Thi Mai, M.A. in 2021.
The developmental state, a form of state that plays a significant role in guiding and promoting economic development at high speed, is applied in many countries. Currently, the model is effectively applied in Asian nations such as Japan and the Republic of Korea.
As Vietnam’s economy is entering a new phase after becoming a middle-income country, the developmental state model and its relationship with political parties and social organizations in East Asian countries with similar cultural characteristics provides a reference for Vietnam to promote the process of building a developmental state.
Therefore, the National Political Publishing House issued this book to offer one more research and reference material on this topic.
The book consists of three chapters. It focuses on clarifying characteristics, history, and role of the developmental state; pointing out the relationship between the developmental state and political parties as well as between the developmental state and social organizations in some East Asian countries. It provides suggestions for Vietnam to build “a socialist rule of law and developmental state with integrity and action”.
