“50 Years of Singapore's Productivity Drive” is more than a chronicle of a nation's determination to increase productivity, with productivity as the cornerstone of success. The Singapore experience as narrated by Woon Kin Chung and Loo Ya Lee is an inspiring journey to develop the productivity movement, a role model that demonstrates productivity across all sectors and societies of a country and become a way of life.
Singapore's 5-decades of productivity promotion shows that although the priority policy of national economic development is different in each period, boosting productivity is always an important factor. The top priority needs to be paid attention and implemented by the Government throughout for the purpose of increasing development speed and competitive strength.
Singapore's story is sure to inspire Vietnam, and Vietnam will need to navigate its own path of productivity growth, shaping the country's productivity mindset and culture. Vietnam's national productivity development plan and strategy will also have to take into account current challenges and opportunities including charting a new path of development in the face of the 4.0 industrial revolution, the digital economy while still contributing to the sustainable development goals.
