Regarding new academic and theoretical contributions, on the basis of systematically analyzing the main activities of the French Communist Party from 1945 to 1991, in the context of the complicated developments of the World and France’s situation that strongly affected the French workers movement and activities of French left-wing forces, the thesis makes clear the following aspects: 1) The achievements that the French Communist Party made, the limitations to be overcome as well as the causes of those achievements and limitations. 2) Thereby, the thesis claims that, despite facing many great challenges and limitations remain unresolved, in this period, the French Communist Party has proved itself as the leading force in all the democratic and patriotic forces in the struggle against fascism, to defend the fatherland, to protect the interests of the working class and the toiling people, and to persist in upholding the principles of proletarian internationalism even during the most difficult times of history.

Regarding new findings from research and survey results, the thesis asserts that, from 1945 to 1991, the French Communist Party become one of the leading communist parties in Western Europe, made significant theoretical and practical contributions, first of all to the communist and workers’s movements in Western Europe as well as to the international communist and workers’ movements in the following specific aspects: 1) As regards theory: war and peace issues, judgements about the development process of the international communist and workers’ movements in general, the communist and workers’ movements in Western European in particular; methods of struggle and gathering forces of communist and workers' parties in the world in general, and in the developed capitalist countries of Western European in particular; 2) With regard to practice: Strengthening the position of communist forces in Western Europe; building and developing the Western European working class movement by contributing to raising the struggling spirit and revolutionary consciousness of the working class and the toiling people in the capitalist countries of Western Europe, strengthening the unification in awareness and action as well as efforts to overcome the disagreements and divisions in the communist and workers’ movements of Western Europe; proactively contributing to the international trade union movement. At the same time, the thesis clearly shows that, the actual operations of the French Communist Party from 1945 to 1991 also provided valuable lessons for Vietnam in the task of Party building, in trade union activities and in fulfilling the proletarian internationalist duty.
