Delivering the opening speech, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized this is a meaningful conference held right after the Politburo issued Resolution No. 11-NQ/TW on the direction of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the midland and mountainous northern regions to 2030, with a vision to 2045; The Central Executive Committee issued Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW continuing to innovate, develop and improve the efficiency of the collective economy in the new period. Son La is a vivid reality for the effective implementation of the resolutions of the Central Committee and the Politburo in the new situation.

Noting the results and achievements that Son La province has achieved in agricultural production and in other fields, President Nguyen Xuan Thang highly appreciated the Party committee, government and people of Son La province for deeply grasping, creatively apply the guidelines of the Party and the State's policies to the specific conditions of the locality; renew thinking and have creative ways to do things, promote the spirit of self-reliance and self-reliance, well exploit all potentials, advantages and specific conditions of the locality in agricultural development. On the basis of the achieved results as well as the province’s potential and advantages, President Nguyen Xuan Thang suggested that Son La continue to thoroughly grasp, raise awareness and effectively implement the orientations on agricultural development set out by the Document of the 13th  Congress and the resolutions of the Central Committee. The province should focus on developing agricultural supporting industries and services; properly solve some bottlenecks in agricultural linkage and development such as infrastructure problems, land accumulation, human resource development, etc.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of Son La Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Huu Dong said that the province has focused on developing high-tech agriculture, clean agriculture, and organic agriculture; improve the quality of key agricultural products of the province along the value chain associated with building, developing and protecting the brand; orientations for the development of large-scale cattle raising in communes of region III and villages with special difficulties in the province. The whole province currently has 113,000 hectares of perennial trees, including 84,000 hectares of fruit trees; fruit output in 2022 will reach 436,956 tons; 291,072 tons sold, valued at 3,572 billion dong. Currently, the province has over 8.7 million cattle and poultry; meat output reaches over 58.3 thousand tons; fresh milk production reaches over 75.7 thousand tons. The province has 2,960 hectares of aquaculture area and over 7,288 aquaculture cages; seafood output reaches over 6,800 tons. In addition, up to now, the whole province has 240 supply chains of safe agricultural and aquatic products, 241 planting area codes with an area of ​​3,865.45 hectares of fruit trees and 37 packing facilities for export. Son La's agricultural products have been sold on 35 e-commerce platforms. 17 agricultural products are exported and introduced to 21 countries and territories. 24 agricultural products have been granted protection titles by the National Office of Intellectual Property, and 83 are OCOP products. The province currently has 17 factories and 543 agricultural product processing establishments; 744 agricultural, forestry and fishery cooperatives. Son La has attracted large enterprises to invest in vegetable and fruit processing plants...
